It was a great decade for singers—more exciting styles of Jazz emerged in the ‘50s than in any other decade before or after, and singers were no longer just an embellishment to a band. There was jazz for every taste, from the lyrical to the fiery, from the traditional to the avant-garde, with added spice from Latin-American influences. Anita, Ella, Sarah, Peggy, Carmen, Billie, Blossom, Betty, Dinah, Nina—and those are just some of the ladies. The fellas will get their props also! You needn’t have attended the 2017 class to enjoy this one, and there are no prerequisites. Open ears and tapping toes are welcome!
